Yellow Heat series was inspired by dry hot summers of yellow grass and bleached plants. With record high temperatures and long spells without rain our climate has changed. Working with a restricted palette of colour and texture using found fabrics and textiles, pausing and reflecting on the fabric pieces and placement with a meditative application, remembering the dense heat. Whilst recognising a landscape in ‘Yellow Heat’ the layers work horizontally abstracting the surface sometimes like a geological survey or a quick glance through a window. The surface is further flattened with detailed mark making with stitching.
